About This Dish

A sweet and satisfying dish your family will enjoy as a cool, smooth after-dinner delight. The flavors of Jasmine rice, bananas, vanilla extract and butter meld together to make people smile.

  • 1 cup uncooked  UNCLE BEN’S® Jasmine Rice
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana, chopped or mashed
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Whipped cream, vanilla wafer cookies for garnish

  1. Combine rice, milk, sugar and vanilla extract in saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil and stir well, being careful not to let the milk boil over.
  3. Reduce heat to simmer, and cook approximately 25 minutes, stirring mixture every 3–4 minutes.
  4. Rice will plump and sauce will thicken.
  5. When mixture has thickened, stir in banana, egg yolk, butter and salt, cooking another two minutes.
  6. Transfer to a bowl and place in refrigerator to cool.
  7. When cool, spoon into individual portions and garnish with whipped cream and vanilla wafer cookies.
