Stove Top Directions (Preferred Method)
- Bring water to a boil. Add butter or margarine and salt (optional).
- Stir in rice. Cover and REMOVE FROM HEAT.
- Let stand covered 5 minutes or until water is absorbed. Fluff with fork. Serve.
Note:
To retain Vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking.
For FIRMER rice, use less water.
For SOFTER rice, use more water.
Do not lift lid while cooking (steam cooks rice).
Microwave Directions
- Combine rice and water in a microwave-safe glass dish.
- Add butter or margarine and salt (optional).
- Cover and cook on HIGH using times* below:

Storing UNCLE BEN'S® Instant Rice
UNCLE BEN'S® Instant Rice should be stored in its own container so it can "breathe." It should not be stored in airtight containers. It should be stored in a cool (not over 80°F), dry, insect-free area away from odoriferous materials of any kind. Rice is porous and can pick up flavors and odors from other foods if stored too close to them. Storing uncooked rice in the refrigerator or freezer will result in fresher rice for a longer period of time (recommended 6 months).
