Stove Top Directions (Preferred Method)
- In a 2-quart saucepan, fully submerge one unopened bag of rice in 4 cups of boiling water.* Add 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional). Boil uncovered 10 minutes. * Double water for two bags.
- Remove bag from water and drain. Cut open bag and pour contents into a serving dish.
- Add 1 teaspoon butter or margarine (optional). Fluff with fork. Serve.
Note:
For FIRMER rice, use less water.
For SOFTER rice, use more water.
Microwave Directions
- In a 2-quart microwave-safe glass dish, fully submerge one unopened bag of rice in 3 cups of water. Add 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional). Cover and cook on HIGH 12 to 15 minutes.
- Remove bag from water and drain. Cut open bag and pour contents into a serving dish.
- Add 1 teaspoon butter or margarine (optional). Fluff with fork. Serve.
*Microwave ovens vary. Times given are approximate.
Storing UNCLE BEN'S® Instant Rice
UNCLE BEN'S® Instant Rice should be stored in its own container so it can "breathe." It should not be stored in airtight containers. It should be stored in a cool (not over 80°F), dry, insect-free area away from odoriferous materials of any kind. Rice is porous and can pick up flavors and odors from other foods if stored too close to them. Storing uncooked rice in the refrigerator or freezer will result in fresher rice for a longer period of time (recommended 6 months).
