Ingredients
| 1 | box UNCLE BEN’S® Long Grain & Wild Rice Original Recipe |
| 1 | lb breakfast sausage seasoned hot |
| 1 | large onion roughly chopped |
| 3/4 | cup pecans coarsely chopped |
| 3 | stalks celery chopped |
| 1 | box stuffing mix (6-ounce) for chicken or turkey |
| 2 | cans chicken broth (14.5 oz.) |
| 2 | red apples (optional) |
Instructions
1. Prepare rice according to package instructions and set aside.
2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet crumble and brown the breakfast sausage.
3. Pour off the excess fat from the skillet and add onion, celery, apples and pecans. Sauté until onion and celery are translucent.
4. Combine the stuffing mix, cooked rice, sausage and onion mixture in a large bowl. Moisten with chicken broth.
5. Use stuffing to stuff a turkey or chicken, otherwise transfer it to a large casserole dish.
6. For the casserole: cover with foil and bake in a preheated 375F degree oven for 20 minutes. Remove foil during the last 5 minutes to lightly brown.
